Dubai: Binghatti Holding announced a contribution of AED10 million in support of the Edge of Life campaign to rescue five million children from hunger, launched in Ramadan by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. The campaign aims to raise a minimum of AED1 billion to be invested in implementing sustainable programmes to help fight childhood hunger globally.
According to Emirates News Agency, the Edge of Life campaign builds upon a humanitarian vision championed by Sheikh Mohammed, who views the fight against hunger as a constant moral priority. The campaign is not a response to an emergency but stems from a belief in the importance of protecting human life, especially that of children. It is organised in partnership with UNICEF, Save the Children, the Children's Investment Fund Foundation, and Action Against Hunger.
Muhammad BinGhatti, Chairman of Binghatti Holding, acknowledged the significance of the campaign, stating it reflects the UAE's leadership in philanthropy. BinGhatti emphasized the importance of solidarity and collective action to achieve the campaign's goal of rescuing children worldwide from hunger and malnutrition. He highlighted the necessity of dedicating efforts and resources to improve living conditions, focusing on children at risk of hunger.
The campaign underscores the critical nature of nutrition, noting that a middle-upper arm circumference measurement under 11.5 indicates a life-threatening situation. The Edge of Life campaign continues to welcome donations from institutions and individuals through various channels, including its website, a dedicated call centre, bank transfers, SMS, the DubaiNow app, YallaGive.com, and Dubai's community contributions platform Jood.
