The MoU was signed at a ceremony at Middlesex University Dubai, attended by senior leaders, including Dr. Ali Saeed bin Harmal Aldhaheri, Chairman of Cambridge Health Group.
Under this agreement, the organisations will focus on five strategic pillars to benefit students, academics, healthcare professionals, and the broader community. The partnership will prioritize research into the clinical, economic, and societal benefits of long-term and post-acute care, with joint projects in health economics, rehabilitation, and integrated care. It will also support collaborative grant applications, publications, conferences, and knowledge exchange.
Given the significance of digital healthcare, the partnership will encourage innovation in artificial intelligence, predictive analytics, remote patient monitoring, and healthcare data analytics to enhance patient outcomes and foster more effective care models.
There will be a strong focus on developing future healthcare professionals through graduate career programmes, internships, industry placements, applied research opportunities, and customised executive education. The collaboration will also enhance continuing professional development through specialist education and certification programmes.
The MoU establishes a framework for creating Centres of Excellence in key areas, including post-acute care and rehabilitation, digital health and artificial intelligence, predictive home care, and dementia and healthy ageing. These centres aim to foster innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Beyond education and research, the organisations plan to work together on community health promotion initiatives, wellbeing programmes, academic exchanges, industry advisory activities, and international partnerships to strengthen healthcare systems and promote healthier communities.
Professor Cedwyn Fernandes, Provost and Director of Middlesex University Dubai, highlighted the partnership's focus on addressing real-world healthcare challenges through education, research, and innovation. Wael K. Abdallah, Group Chief Executive Officer of Cambridge Health Group, emphasized the importance of bridging healthcare practice with academic research to advance innovation in post-acute care, rehabilitation, and digital health.
