Abu dhabi: Cancer Run 2026 presented by Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi and organised by Plan b Group has achieved a historic milestone by setting a new Guinness World Records title for Most Nationalities in a Run at its Abu Dhabi edition on Sunday at Hudayriyat Island.
According to Emirates News Agency, the event, supported by Abu Dhabi Sports Council, witnessed the participation of 71 nationalities. It brought together cancer warriors, runners, families, communities, cultures, and health advocates from across the country in solidarity to combat cancer.
The event is recognized as a unique annual campaign promoting regular cancer screening, general awareness, and active lifestyles across the UAE. It aligns with the nation’s goal to foster a healthier, happier society and Abu Dhabi’s recent efforts in cancer awareness, research, and treatment, including the opening of a high-potency facility for oncology drug manufacturing.
Participants could choose from 1km, 3km, 5km, and 10km categories, accommodating families, beginners, fitness enthusiasts, and professional athletes. Hydration stations and medical support ensured the safety and comfort of all participants along the routes.
Dr. Harmeek Singh, Founder and Chairman of Plan b Group, remarked on the significance of the Guinness World Records title, highlighting the power of collective action. He noted the diverse gathering at Hudayriyat Island, Abu Dhabi, as a testament to unified support against an illness impacting not only patients but also their surrounding communities.
