China’s Auto Industry Surpasses 10 Million Units in Production and Sales in Early 2025

Beijing: China's auto industry has achieved a significant milestone by exceeding 10 million units in both production and sales during the first four months of the year, as reported by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers on Monday.

According to Emirates News Agency, data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers revealed that from January to April, automobile production reached 10.175 million units, while sales totaled 10.06 million units. This represents a year-on-year increase of 12.9 percent in production and 10.8 percent in sales.

The data further highlighted the substantial growth in the production and sales of new energy vehicles (NEVs), which reached 4.429 million units and 4.3 million units, respectively. This marks an increase of 48.3 percent in production and 46.2 percent in sales compared to the same period last year. The sales of NEVs accounted for 42.7 percent of the total new auto sales.

Additionally, the report showed that China exported 1.937 million units of cars in the first four months of this year, marking a 6-percent year-on-year growth. Notably, NEV exports reached 642,000 units, experiencing a significant surge of 52.6 percent year-on-year.
