China’s External Portfolio Investment Assets Reach $1.42 Trillion at End of 2024

Beijing: China's external portfolio investment assets, excluding reserve assets, had climbed to $1.42 trillion by the end of 2024, official data showed.

According to Emirates News Agency, of the total external portfolio investment assets, $859.8 billion was in equity investment and $557.5 billion was in bond investment, as reported by the State Administration of Foreign Exchange.

Non-bank financial institutions held $795.5 billion of the external portfolio investment assets, accounting for 56% of the total. Banks were responsible for $422.1 billion, representing 30% of the total assets.

The non-financial sector held $199.8 billion of these assets, accounting for 14% of the total.
