Fujairah: Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Chief of Police and Public Security in Dubai, recently participated in a trial journey aboard an Etihad Rail passenger train, traveling from Al Qudra in Dubai to Al Hilal City Station in Fujairah.
According to Emirates News Agency, Lt. Gen. Dhahi Khalfan was accompanied by Shadi Malak, CEO of Etihad Rail, Major General Ahmed Al Maqoodi, Director General of the Office of the Deputy Chief of Police and Public Security in Dubai, and several senior officers and Etihad Rail officials. During the journey, Emirati professionals briefed Lt. Gen. Dhahi Khalfan on the latest developments of the national railway project, which includes initial passenger routes set to become operational later this year. These routes will connect key locations including Abu Dhabi (Mohamed Bin Zayed City), Dubai (Jumeirah Golf Estates), and Fujairah (Al Hilal City).
The briefing also covered future phases that aim to expand the network to 11 stations, enhancing connectivity and ensuring safe and reliable transport services across the Emirates. Lt. Gen. Dhahi Khalfan emphasized the project's significance as a cornerstone of the UAE's infrastructure initiatives, underscoring its role in promoting economic growth and sustainability in line with the leadership's vision. He noted that Etihad Rail strengthens the UAE's status as a regional and global logistics hub and reflects the Spirit of the Union.
At the journey's conclusion, Lt. Gen. Dhahi Khalfan expressed his gratitude to the teams driving the project under the leadership of H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Etihad Rail. Shadi Malak, in turn, thanked Lt. Gen. Dhahi Khalfan for his visit and highlighted that the project's progress aligns with the leadership's vision for an integrated and sustainable transport system.
The visit concluded with a tour of the Al Hilal City Passenger Station in Fujairah, where Lt. Gen. Dhahi Khalfan reviewed construction progress and was briefed on the station's design and strategic location, which serves key residential and economic areas.
