Abu dhabi: The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH), in collaboration with SEHA Clinics, a subsidiary of PureHealth, has extended the operating hours of several primary care centres to a 24-hour schedule, with some locations offering urgent care services. This development aims to provide timely, integrated, and patient-centric care, thereby enhancing the healthcare system’s capacity to efficiently meet the needs of the community.
According to Emirates News Agency, this initiative is designed to improve the management of urgent cases, reducing the strain on hospital emergency departments while advancing patient experience, health outcomes, and service sustainability. The primary care centres in Mazyad and Sweihan now operate around the clock, offering urgent care to community members. Additionally, ten more centres across Al Ain and Abu Dhabi, including locations such as Al Hili, Al Aamerah, and Baniyas, have extended to 24-hour operations in preparation for launching urgent care services in the second quarter of 2026.
Dr Noura Khamis Al Ghaithi, Undersecretary of DoH, emphasized the significance of this expansion, stating that around-the-clock operation of primary care centres alongside strengthening urgent care services marks a pivotal step in building a more resilient and proactive healthcare system. This move ensures that the healthcare system continuously responds to the needs of individuals and families, contributing to improved health outcomes and enhanced patient experiences.
Rashed Al Qubaisi, Group Chief Operating Officer of PureHealth, highlighted the commitment to delivering world-class healthcare with several SEHA Clinics now operating 24 hours a day. This approach reflects DoH’s dedication to enhancing services in line with established regulatory frameworks and global best practices.
The selected primary care centres will expand their offerings to include urgent care services under the updated Emergency Departments and Urgent Care Centres standards. These centres deliver comprehensive, personalized, and preventive services, including chronic and acute disease management, vaccination, health education, mental health support, and specialist coordination, reinforcing their role in supporting individuals and families at every stage of life.
