Dubai: National Industries Park (NIP), DP World's industrial hub in Dubai, is slated to host a significant automotive refurbishment facility under a AED55 million ($15 million) collaboration with Cars24.
According to Emirates News Agency, the expansive 220,000 square foot facility is expected to generate over 200 jobs in its initial phase, managing more than 100,000 vehicles annually. It will have direct connectivity to DP World's extensive network of ports, logistics corridors, and economic zones. Construction is scheduled to commence in November 2025, with operations anticipated to begin in August 2026.
The facility is designed to accommodate rising demand from electric vehicle manufacturers and Chinese OEMs, featuring multi-brand handling capabilities that distinguish it as one of the notable hubs of its kind in the GCC. It will provide services such as refurbishment, pre-delivery inspections, after-sales support, and preparation for export.
The center is also being developed as a solar-powered facility, aimed at extending the life of vehicles, particularly electric vehicles, through refurbishment. This initiative is set to reduce the environmental impact associated with manufacturing new cars. Each vehicle processed at the facility will undergo over 140 internal checkpoints, receive Dubai RTA approval, and achieve Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) 5-Star certification, ensuring compliance with high safety and quality standards.
Abdulla Al Hashmi, Chief Operating Officer, Parks and Zones, DP World GCC, remarked that the new facility by Cars24 will solidify Dubai's status as the region's automotive hub. He highlighted that the Middle East and Africa's used car market generated over $100 billion in 2024 and is projected to grow at a rate of 4.9% annually from 2025 to 2030. By facilitating connections between global manufacturers and regional distributors, DP World aims to spur growth, bolster supply chains, and create new opportunities in the industry.
Founded in 2015, Cars24 is a unicorn startup valued at over $3 billion, operating a digital platform for buying and selling used vehicles. The new facility at NIP signifies a substantial expansion of its regional footprint, providing customers with access to one of the largest multi-brand refurbishment and service hubs in the market.
Abhinav Gupta, CEO of Cars24 Arabia, stated that the new center will set a benchmark for speed, reliability, and sustainability in the automotive sector. Situated in NIP, it offers state-of-the-art infrastructure and easy access to trade routes, enabling automotive companies to scale operations and expand swiftly into GCC and international markets.
The project contributes to DP World's growing automotive cluster across NIP and Jafza, which hosts major manufacturers, distributors, and EV innovators. It also forms a part of Dubai's broader automotive hub strategy, which includes the world's largest car market announced in 2024 by DP World and Dubai Municipality. Collectively, these initiatives strengthen Dubai's role as the regional gateway for automotive trade.
