Dubai Brings Together Innovation Leaders at AI Week

Abu Dhabi: Dubai AI Week, which kicked off today and will run until 25th April, is bringing together innovation leaders, specialists, and investors to explore long-term growth opportunities in the artificial intelligence (AI) sector and shape its future.

According to Emirates News Agency, Saeed Al Falasi, Director of the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence, emphasized that AI should not be exclusive to experts but should be accessible to everyone, including students, entrepreneurs, and businesses. He highlighted that AI Week serves as a strategic platform to gather global expertise and share advancements, focusing on collaboration between major companies and startups to advance Dubai's knowledge economy.

Al Falasi was pleased with the participation of over 26 startups from 15 countries, describing them as elite innovators in AI. Their presence boosts local startups and underscores Dubai's status as a global tech hub, fostering partnerships and launching long-term opportunities within the local economic ecosystem. He noted that the Centre, along with Digital Dubai and Dubai Chamber, is aiding these companies in exploring the local business environment to strengthen their establishment in Dubai.

He remarked that AI is embedded in daily life, from transportation to digital services. The Centre's vision is for the UAE to lead globally in AI development and export AI-driven innovations.

Muna Bu Samra, Director of Dubai Media Academy, mentioned that after extensive studies, the Academy concluded the need for an initiative to preserve Arabic language and culture in media's future. This led to the launch of the "Al Ain" initiative, aimed at supporting Arabic through AI tools, addressing language quality and cultural erosion in media.

She explained the initiative provides training tools and language models to elevate Arabic content with technology. Today's announcement marks its beginning, with related programs to be revealed in May, involving developers from Egypt, Jordan, and GCC countries, in collaboration with regional associations.

Bu Samra expressed hope for the initiative to bridge technology and cultural identity, opening new avenues for Arab talent in AI-driven media projects.
