Dubai: Dubai Health has announced the launch of the Artificial Intelligence Literacy Framework (ALiF), marking the first comprehensive framework in the UAE aimed at advancing AI literacy in professional environments. This initiative is the first of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region and highlights Dubai Health's dedication to innovation and continuous learning.
According to Emirates News Agency, ALiF was developed at the Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU), which spearheads the Learning and Discovery missions of Dubai Health. The framework provides a structured blueprint for understanding, evaluating, and effectively applying artificial intelligence across various sectors. The announcement was made during Dubai AI Week 2025, organized by the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence, an initiative of the Dubai Future Foundation, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
ALiF is designed to build competence on AI fundamentals, ethical considerations, critical evaluation, and practical skills. Initially focusing on roles within Dubai Health, such as healthcare, education, and research, the framework is intended to be expanded across other sectors. This development reflects the UAE's leadership in AI education and aligns with the broader digital transformation agenda.
Alawi Alsheik-Ali, Chief Academic Officer of Dubai Health and Provost at MBRU, emphasized the importance of AI literacy as artificial intelligence continues to impact various aspects of life. ALiF aims to equip learners with the necessary understanding and confidence to engage responsibly with AI. By establishing this framework in Dubai, a regionally tailored digital fluency is developed, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
ALiF begins with the AI Launchpad, a free, online course that introduces foundational AI concepts and real-world applications. Participants can then progress through five role-specific mastery tracks tailored for different professional roles. The Strategic AI Leadership track prepares professionals to lead AI transformation within their organizations. Certified and delivered through three progressive levels-Foundation, Intermediate, and Advanced-these courses are designed for flexible learning.
Atif AlBraiki, Chief Digital and AI Officer at Dubai Health, stated that ALiF strengthens Dubai Health's ability to integrate AI effectively, reflecting the organization's commitment to digital transformation. Nabil Zary, Senior Director of the Institute of Learning at MBRU, highlighted that the framework is intended to build lasting competencies rather than just technical knowledge, enabling professionals to engage with AI relevant to their roles.
The launch of ALiF adds to MBRU's legacy of continuous learning initiatives, including the Community Immunity Ambassador programme during the COVID-19 pandemic. Through ALiF, Dubai Health is contributing to sustainable digital transformation and enhancing healthcare delivery to improve patient outcomes.
