Seoul:The Dubai Media Council (DMC) has wrapped up a significant visit to Seoul, South Korea, during which it signed several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) and conducted numerous meetings with key players in the Korean media and entertainment industry. This initiative aimed to bolster Dubai's media sector by leveraging South Korea's expertise in content production and exploring new collaborative opportunities.
According to Emirates News Agency, the delegation, led by Nehal Badri, Secretary General of the Dubai Media Council, included top executives like Mohammed Sulaiman Al Mulla, CEO of Dubai Media Incorporated, and Hesham Al Olama, CEO of the Media Development Sector at the DMC. The visit, held from October 26 to 30, 2026, included 25 meetings covering various aspects such as media production, content distribution, talent development, and gaming industry expansion.
The DMC signed an MoU with SM Entertainment Group to enhance collaboration in entertainment content production and talent development. Additionally, the Dubai Films and Games Commission partnered with NEXUS to explore business development in gaming and AI technologies. The delegation also engaged with the Korea Press Foundation to foster media professional development through knowledge exchange.
Nehal Badri emphasized the strategic nature of the partnerships formed, aiming to position Dubai as a global hub for media and content production. Mohammed Sulaiman Al Mulla highlighted the insights gained from Korean production models, which could enhance the competitiveness of Emirati and Arab media productions.
The delegation met with prominent Korean entities, including the Producers Guild of Korea and Studio N, to discuss coproduction opportunities. Meetings with companies like SLL and discussions with Pearl Abyss and the Korea Association of Game Industry focused on future collaboration, particularly in gaming.
The visit concluded with a dinner hosted by the Dubai Films and Games Commission, gathering leaders from South Korea's gaming industry and presenting Dubai's strengths as a destination for game developers. This gathering underscored Dubai's ambition to become a leading international hub for the gaming industry.
