Alamein: The first preliminary camel race of 2025 commenced at the Alamein Camel Racing Track in the Arab Republic of Egypt, marking a significant event in the annual camel racing calendar.
According to Emirates Press Agency, the race is organized in collaboration with the Egyptian Camel Racing Federation and is supported by the UAE Camel Racing Federation. This year's schedule includes five races, comprising four preliminary rounds and a final race, with each race featuring 32 heats. The number of participating camels has surpassed 1,400.
A notable aspect of this year's races is the introduction of robot jockeys, which aim to advance the sport and ensure its sustainability while meeting contemporary standards. The Alamein and Sharm El-Sheikh tracks hold a significant status as leading camel racing venues in the region. They host a series of preliminary races each year, culminating in a final festival in December 2025 at Alamein. This series of events plays a vital role in preserving the longstanding tradition of camel racing and enhancing its prominence in Egypt and the wider region.
