Emaar Properties Pledges AED100 Million to Edge of Life Campaign to Combat Child Hunger

Dubai: Emaar Properties announced a contribution of AED100 million in support of the Edge of Life campaign to rescue five million children from hunger, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. The campaign aims to raise a minimum of AED1 billion to be invested in fighting childhood hunger globally.

According to Emirates News Agency, Emaar's contribution is part of a community-wide response to the Edge of Life campaign, operating under the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI). The campaign builds upon previous Ramadan campaigns launched under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, which received strong support from the UAE community.

Organised in partnership with UNICEF, Save the Children, the Children's Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), and Action Against Hunger, the campaign focuses on children facing hunger in vulnerable communities, especially in regions affected by natural disasters and conflicts. Statistics show that five children under the age of 5 die from malnutrition and hunger globally every minute.

Mohamed Alabbar, Founder and Managing Director of Emaar Properties, praised the goals of the Edge of Life campaign and its commitment to joining the global effort to address the risk facing millions of children threatened by hunger. He emphasized that the campaign represents a new chapter in combating childhood hunger in vulnerable communities, guided by a vision for mobilizing support for this humanitarian issue.

Alabbar expressed honor in contributing to the campaign and continuing to support UAE's humanitarian and philanthropy initiatives, stating that Emaar's participation reflects a deep appreciation for the campaign's mission.

The campaign reached its target before the end of Ramadan, raising over AED2.822 billion with the support of 44,208 contributors, including individuals, businesses, and leading humanitarian organizations. Contributions were received through various channels, such as the campaign's website, call center, bank transfers, SMS to du and e numbers, the DubaiNow app, YallaGive.com, and Dubai's community contributions platform Jood (Jood.ae).
