Emir of Qatar Inaugurates Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit to Address Israeli Aggression

Doha: His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, officially opened the emergency Arab-Islamic Summit, emphasizing Qatar's resolve to counter Israeli aggression. The summit was convened in response to a recent attack on Doha, which targeted a residential neighborhood housing schools and diplomatic missions, resulting in the martyrdom of six individuals, including a Qatari member of the Internal Security Forces, and injuring 18 others.

According to Emirates News Agency, H.H. Sheikh Tamim highlighted that the attack on September 9 occurred while the political leadership of Hamas was reviewing an American proposal facilitated by Qatar and Egypt. He questioned Israel's intentions, asking, "If Israel wants to assassinate the political leadership of Hamas, then why does it negotiate with it?" This query was posed during his keynote address at the summit, which gathered Arab and Islamic leaders, heads of state, and senior officials to deliberate on a collective response to the aggression.

H.H. Sheikh Tamim criticized Israel's tactics, stating, "The government of Israel believes it places the Arabs before a fait accompli each time, then follows them with new ones, so they drop the old and negotiate over the new." He reaffirmed Qatar's commitment to taking all necessary and legally permissible actions to safeguard its sovereignty and counter the Israeli actions. He further remarked that adherence to the Arab Peace Initiative could have prevented numerous tragedies in the region.
