Oman’s Electricity Production Rises by 9% at End of July

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman has witnessed a 9% increase in its total electricity production by the end of July 2025. This growth led to a production level of 30,239.3 gigawatt-hours (GWh), up from 27,746.9 GWh during the same period in the previous year.

According to Emirates News Agency, preliminary statistics from the National Centre for Statistics and Information reveal that Oman's net electricity production, which encompasses purchases by the Oman Power and Water Procurement Company and the Rural Areas Electricity Company, rose by 8.7% to 29,308.6 GWh by the end of last July. This was in comparison to 26,972.2 GWh recorded during the corresponding period of the previous year.

In contrast to the electricity sector's growth, Oman's total water production saw a slight decline of 0.8% by the end of July 2025. The water production volume reached approximately 298.9 million cubic meters, down from 301.2 million cubic meters in the same timeframe in 2024.

Focusing on the governorate level, Muscat experienced an 8.1% decrease in water production, totaling 122.4 million cubic meters, a drop from 133.2 million cubic meters last year. Conversely, water production in Dhofar increased by 3% to 43.9 million cubic meters. Additionally, water production in the other governorates rose by 5.8%, amounting to 298.9 million cubic meters, compared to 301.2 million cubic meters by the end of July 2025.
