Emirates Drug Establishment Expands Recall of Nestl© Infant Formula Due to Bacillus Cereus Detection

Abu dhabi: The Emirates Drug Establishment (EDE) has announced a voluntary precautionary recall of additional batches of the Nestl© infant formula 'S26 AR GOLD'. This decision comes as part of an effort to protect public health and ensure consumer safety. The specific batches affected by the recall are 5185080661, 5271080661, and 5125080661, and the product is intended for use exclusively under medical supervision.

According to Emirates News Agency, the recall was initiated after the bacterium Bacillus cereus was detected in a production input. This particular bacterium can produce cereulide toxin, which might lead to foodborne illnesses and result in gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.

In collaboration with Nestl©, the Emirates Drug Establishment has successfully secured all affected batches from distributor warehouses. The establishment is actively working to remove any remaining products from the market. This effort is being conducted in accordance with national regulatory protocols and involves cooperation with relevant authorities to ensure a thorough removal of the impacted batches from all retail channels, including e-commerce platforms.

The Emirates Drug Establishment emphasized its dedication to improving communication with consumers and ensuring they receive accurate information. Nestl© MENA has issued a detailed statement about the precautionary recall as committed. Additionally, Nestl© has launched user-friendly digital tools to assist consumers in the UAE in verifying product batches and initiating refund or replacement requests.
