Abu Dhabi: The Emirates Energy Award, organized by the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, continues to bolster its reputation as a leading global initiative supporting sustainability and clean energy. With the submission deadline for its fifth edition closing on March 1, 2025, the award is drawing significant entries across its 10 categories from various countries worldwide.
According to Emirates News Agency, the award aims to recognize projects and initiatives contributing to the transition to sustainable energy, emphasizing innovation and effective solutions to environmental challenges. The theme of the award highlights the pivotal role of public and private institutions in reducing carbon emissions and increasing reliance on renewable energy sources.
H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, stated that under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai remains committed to supporting initiatives that drive sustainable development and accelerate the global shift towards a green economy. These strategies aim to foster innovation and acknowledge pioneering projects providing tangible solutions to climate challenges. Dubai has established itself as a global benchmark for clean energy and environmental sustainability through its ambitious initiatives, reinforcing its leadership in enhancing reliance on renewable and clean energy sources.
Sheikh Ahmed highlighted that the fifth cycle of the Emirates Energy Award, themed 'Empowering Carbon Neutrality,' aligns with the UAE's climate neutrality goals by 2050. This initiative reflects Dubai's efforts to transform the emirate into a global clean energy hub, in line with Dubai's Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050, which aim to achieve 100% clean energy production by 2050.
Sheikh Ahmed emphasized that the award is a significant step in accelerating the transition to renewable energy, attracting innovators and experts worldwide to exchange solutions and expertise. Since its inception in 2012, the award has made significant progress, attracting over 600 submissions from more than 40 countries. Its categories cover a range of areas, including large and small energy projects, energy efficiency, the circular economy, education and capacity building, innovation, and research and development.
