Emirates SkyCargo to Double Freighter Fleet by End of 2026

Dubai: Emirates SkyCargo will double its freighter fleet to 21 aircraft by the end of 2026, up from 10 currently, in a move that reflects confidence in the continued growth of global demand for air cargo services.

According to Emirates News Agency, Nabil Sultan, Divisional Senior Vice President at Emirates SkyCargo, speaking at the IATA World Cargo Symposium 2025 in Dubai, highlighted the company's plan to operate 11 new Boeing 777Fs by 2026. This fleet expansion aligns with an ambitious strategy that includes investments in advanced technology, modern infrastructure, and tailored logistics solutions for specialised cargo segments such as pharmaceuticals, perishables, and valuables.

Sultan noted that the dedicated freighter network currently covers 38 destinations, with plans to add 20 more in the coming years. The expansion already includes new cargo routes to Japan and Copenhagen this year. Emirates' total network now spans 148 destinations supported by a global partnership network. The overall fleet comprises 260 aircraft, with expectations to exceed 300 by 2030.

Discussing Al Maktoum International Airport, Sultan mentioned the Government of Dubai's plans to develop it into the world's largest air cargo hub, capable of handling up to 12 million tonnes. This development aims to position Dubai as a global capital for multimodal cargo.

Sultan also introduced "Emirates Delivers," a door-to-door express service for businesses operating in seven markets, including the UAE and the United Kingdom, with plans for further expansion. This service emphasizes speed and reliability, mirroring the Emirates passenger experience.

In addressing the broader air cargo sector amid global challenges, Sultan asserted that the airline remains adaptable and views challenges as opportunities to innovate. He expressed confidence in the future of air cargo and Emirates' pivotal role within it.
