Dubai: Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower) has entered into an agreement with Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) to supply district cooling services for the next phase of Uptown Dubai. The environmentally friendly cooling services will have a capacity of 24,675 refrigeration tonnes (RT).
According to Emirates News Agency, the agreement was formalized at DMCC's headquarters in Uptown Tower. The signing ceremony was attended by Ahmed bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and CEO of DMCC, and Ahmad bin Shafar, CEO of Empower. Uptown Dubai is an innovative, smart district designed to be a unique mixed-use urban destination featuring eight planned towers along with a variety of retail, dining, luxury hospitality, and community options.
Empower's JLT District Cooling project includes four plants, three of which are currently operational, designed to deliver a total capacity of 152,000 RT. This project also includes a comprehensive pipeline network to serve the entire area. The infrastructure and advanced smart production and operation systems are prepared to accommodate any new project regardless of size or use.
Ahmad bin Shafar expressed that the partnership demonstrates Empower's commitment to providing innovative and sustainable cooling solutions that align with the UAE's national sustainability goals. Currently, Empower is supplying the first phase of Uptown Dubai, including the Uptown Tower, with environmentally friendly cooling services, delivering a capacity of 3,850 RT to meet international standards.
Ahmed bin Sulayem highlighted that Uptown Dubai is swiftly developing into a world-class destination. The collaboration with Empower is vital for ensuring the delivery of sustainable cooling solutions, which will support the vision for a smart urban community and improve the quality of life for both residents and visitors.
