In partnership with the United Nations Development Program, Lebanon's Environment Ministry took an important step towards preserving the environment and restoring burned lands through the "Land Degradation Reduction Project" funded by the Global Environment Facility, a step that represents the first experiment in restoring a fire-affected forest site through soil stabilization techniques. This initiative included comprehensive technical training, both theoretical and applied, in which forest rangers, volunteers from environmental associations, representatives of municipalities, environmental experts, and university students underwent practical and field training. The aim is to reduce the deterioration of burned lands, forests in particular, by stabilizing the soil in order to combat erosion and protect it. This initiative also reflects the Ministry of Environment's strong commitment to its plan to protect forests from fires and the joint and cooperative work to achieve sustainable management of natural res ources.
