FNC and GRULAC Engage in Talks on Parliamentary Cooperation in Geneva


Geneva: Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the UAE Parliamentary Division of the Federal National Council (FNC) to the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), engaged in discussions with the delegation of the Group of Latin American and Caribbean Countries (GRULAC), led by Rojo Ewards, the group’s chairman, during the 151st IPU Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland. The meeting focused on enhancing parliamentary cooperation between the FNC, the legislative councils of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, and the parliaments of Latin American and Caribbean nations.

According to Emirates News Agency, Dr. Al Nuaimi emphasized GRULAC’s role in advancing the work and activities of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, commending its efforts in fostering parliamentary dialogue and coordinating positions on shared international issues. He stressed the importance of collaboration in areas such as economic development, artificial intelligence, and renewable energy.

Dr. Al Nuaimi also addressed the situation in the Middle Ea
st, highlighting the UAE’s ongoing support for the Palestinian people. He detailed the UAE’s humanitarian aid initiatives and efforts in building institutions, schools, and hospitals in Gaza, along with its support for international peace efforts in the region.

The chairman of GRULAC, Rojo Ewards, expressed a desire to formalize a cooperation agreement with the GCC legislative bodies to enhance coordination and expand parliamentary collaboration. Several members of the FNC were present at the meeting, signifying the importance of this diplomatic engagement.
