FTA and Abu Dhabi Customs Enhance Cooperation for Streamlined Electronic Linking

Abu dhabi: The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) and Abu Dhabi Customs have announced a strengthened strategic partnership aimed at facilitating commercial operations in Abu Dhabi through enhanced electronic linking channels. This collaboration seeks to ensure compliance with UAE tax legislation concerning the submission of tax returns and the payment of tax and customs dues.

According to Emirates News Agency, the announcement was made on the sidelines of GITEX Global 2025, held at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Khalid Ali Al Bustani, Director-General of the FTA, emphasized that the cooperation agreement is a result of continuous efforts to enhance integration between the two entities. He highlighted that the agreement aligns with the directives of the UAE leadership to improve quality of life, streamline government transactions, and foster a dynamic business environment. The initiative is expected to contribute to the national economy by offering proactive digital services and increasing customer satisfaction.

Rashed Lahej Al Mansoori, Director-General of Abu Dhabi Customs, stated that the partnership represents an important step toward developing procedures and enhancing tax and customs compliance. He noted that the collaboration aligns with the 'Zero Government Bureaucracy' targets and aims to increase operational efficiency and provide proactive services. Al Mansoori affirmed Abu Dhabi Customs' commitment to promoting sustainable economic growth by leveraging its expertise and advanced technologies to support joint cooperation.

This initiative aims to improve coordination between the FTA and Abu Dhabi Customs by facilitating investigation, review, and inspection procedures, and exchanging necessary information to determine due taxes and customs duties. It also focuses on joint awareness campaigns to educate investors about tax and customs procedures, developing solutions to address challenges faced by investors, and launching services to enhance operational efficiency and customer experience in line with government targets.
