Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Leads Smart & Autonomous Systems Council Meeting

Abu dhabi: H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs, has chaired a meeting of the Smart and Autonomous Systems Council (SASC) held at Qasr Al Shati. The meeting focused on the outcomes of the inaugural Abu Dhabi Autonomous Week, which took place over six days and featured events, panel discussions, and exhibitions on smart mobility and autonomous systems technologies.

According to Emirates News Agency, the event brought together experts, decision-makers, and researchers globally to explore strategic cooperation opportunities in autonomous vehicle technologies across land, sea, and air. H.H. Sheikh Hamdan praised the public and private sector entities involved in the event, which enhanced Abu Dhabi's status in autonomous systems design, deployment, and operation. The event also aimed to boost the technological R and D ecosystem and advance future technologies in commercial, industrial, and logistics sectors.

His Highness emphasized strengthening public-private sector cooperation to move from pilot phases to practical deployment of autonomous systems in priority sectors. The meeting discussed SASC's plans to support technological transformation in the smart mobility sector and improve autonomous systems' performance in vital industrial sectors, aligning with the National Strategy for Industry and Advanced Technology.

SASC's strategic direction underscores Abu Dhabi's commitment to growing advanced technology-driven sectors, fostering investment, supporting knowledge exchange, and developing national talent. H.H. Sheikh Hamdan instructed the organizing committee of Abu Dhabi Autonomous Week to prepare for the second edition, expanding its scope and attracting global companies and experts in autonomous technologies. A report will be submitted to SASC to announce the next edition's date and open participation to showcase innovations in the smart mobility sector.

The meeting was attended by various dignitaries, including H.H. Sheikh Zayed bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Sheikh Hamdan bin Saeed bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan; Faisal Abdulaziz Al Bannai, Advisor for Strategic Research and Advanced Technology Affairs; Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa, Chairman of the Department of Municipalities and Transport; and other key officials.
