Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University Launches Region’s First ‘AI Agent for Every Faculty’ Initiative

Dubai: Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU) has launched an initiative called 'An Artificial Intelligence Agent for Every Faculty', marking the first of its kind in the country and the region. This initiative aims to harness the advanced capabilities of the latest technologies in higher education. The launch occurred during a media meeting at the HBMSU Campus in Dubai. This effort is poised to reshape the future of higher education, aligning with the 'National AI Strategy of the UAE 2031' and the 'Education Strategy 2033 (E33)', emphasizing HBMSU's global leadership in innovation within the higher education sector.

According to Emirates News Agency, Dr. Mansoor Alawar, HBMSU Chancellor, stated, "We have launched this initiative in line with the vision of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, and President of HBMSU. Today we are shaping the features of a new stage in which we aspire that artificial intelligence (AI) will form the pillar for designing future initiatives and services in Dubai."

Dr. Mansoor further explained that, under the guidance of Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and the Board members, the University is committed to reinforcing Dubai's leadership as a global leader in AI-powered higher education. This initiative represents a transformation in learning and academic institutions by changing academic tasks into smart, efficient processes and enhancing the experiences of faculty and learners. These improvements are achieved through a new ecosystem that utilizes the latest AI technology.

The initiative is designed to support the academic role of faculty members and organize tasks in a manner that allows more time for supervision, guidance, and research and development efforts. It also aims to customize learning experiences and curricula to meet the individual needs of each learner. The ecosystem includes an AI agent responsible for tasks such as Content Development, Assessment Generation, and Performance Analyzing to support learners' achievements and propose assistance strategies.

This educational system has successfully reduced content development time by 85%, decreased the burden on faculty by 95%, and enhanced mastery by 40%. The system not only drives research and development at the University but also improves academic and educational performance while reducing costs associated with course and program design and production, offering significant benefits to the educational institution.

The platform, developed entirely in Dubai with international standards, is led by Maitha Al-Tunaiji, Vice Chancellor of HBMSU for Artificial Intelligence and Technology. It incorporates professional ethics standards for AI use, including privacy protection, bias reduction, transparency, and compliance with accessibility standards.
