‘If Israel-Iran Conflict Intensifies, More Civilians Will Suffer,’ Says ICRC

Geneva: The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) stated today that if the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran intensifies, more civilians will suffer, and the repercussions will extend far beyond the immediate hostilities in a region already experiencing significant hardship.

According to Emirates News Agency, the ICRC has called for adherence to international humanitarian law and urged immediate de-escalation of tensions. Nicolas Von Arx, ICRC Near and Middle East Regional Director, emphasized the urgent need for decisive political action to halt the violence and end the destruction.

Von Arx expressed deep concern for civilians trapped in the conflict, highlighting the tragic loss of lives and the impact on families. Many civilians on both sides have been killed or injured, including members of the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement. The conflict has damaged homes and shattered livelihoods. The ICRC noted that in Iran, many families are fleeing for safety, while in Israel, families often find themselves forced into shelters during the night.
