Japan’s Exports Experience Steepest Decline in Four Years

Tokyo: Japan's exports recorded the most significant monthly decline in nearly four years in July, as revealed by government data on Wednesday. This downturn comes amid escalating impacts from US tariffs.

According to Emirates Press Agency, the total value of exports from Japan decreased by 2.6 percent year-on-year in July. This marks the largest monthly reduction since February 2021, when exports saw a 4.5 percent fall. The recent decline surpassed the median market forecast, which anticipated a 2.1 percent decrease, and marks the third consecutive month of declining exports, following a 0.5 percent drop in June.

The data further indicated that exports to the United States fell by 10.1 percent in July compared to the previous year, highlighting the significant impact of US tariffs on Japan's export economy.
