Knowledge Lounge Hosts Inspiring Literary Sessions with International Prize for Arabic Fiction

Dubai: Knowledge Lounge, a flagship initiative of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF), organized a series of dialogue sessions in collaboration with the International Prize for Arabic Fiction (IPAF). The sessions convened prominent writers and literary figures, who held discussions on the novels shortlisted for the prize.

According to Emirates News Agency, the sessions emphasize MBRF's commitment to facilitating literary and knowledge events that promote the Arabic language and connect Arab novelists with their audience. The interactive environment empowered emerging literary talents and enhanced the audience's critical analysis skills.

Jamal bin Huwaireb, CEO of MBRF, stated that the Knowledge Lounge sessions reflect MBRF's commitment to supporting the literary movement across the Arab world and strengthening the role of the Arabic language. He expressed honor in collaborating with IPAF to showcase distinguished literary voices and inspire creativity.

Dr. Yasir Suleiman, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of IPAF, noted the value of discussions on shortlisted novels, highlighting the cultural awareness among Arab intellectuals. He expressed gratitude to MBRF and other supporters for promoting Arabic fiction and emphasized the initiative's role in serving Arabic literature.

One session discussed Diaa Jubaili's novel 'The Seer', tracing the protagonist's journey through history. Another session featured Said Khatibi, who discussed his novel 'I Resist the River's Course', which won the Arabic Booker, highlighting central ideas and meanings.

Khatibi emphasized the significance of the sessions as a unifying platform for readers, writers, and critics, allowing authors to explore the depth of their literary experience. He called for more libraries and discussions on literature in the Arab world.

Doaa Ibrahim explored the ideas in her novel 'A Cloud Above My Head', while Amin Zaoui discussed 'Siesta Dream' and its philosophical message. Ahmad Abdulatif highlighted contemporary human crisis themes in 'The Origin of Species', and Najwa Barakat explored emotional themes in 'The Absence of Mai'.
