Lebanon Intensifies Local and International Efforts to Avoid War with Israeli Entity

Beirut, - Lebanon is intensifying its diplomatic efforts and endeavors at home and abroad to avoid entering into a comprehensive war with the Israeli entity, at a time when the Israeli entity continues its attacks on Lebanon by land, sea and air, in violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701.

In an interview with Qatar News Agency , former Director General of Lebanese General Security Major General Abbas Ibrahim condemned the continued targeting of civilians by the Israeli entity in southern Lebanon, the most recent of which was the killing of 4 people, including three children who were killed while traveling in a civilian car on the road in southern Lebanon.

The former Director General of Lebanese General Security revealed to QNA the efforts he is making through his relations with actors in the international and regional community to prevent a comprehensive war on Lebanon, in addition to his entry into the mediation line to stop the war on Gaza, specifically in the file of prisoners and hostages.

He said, "as a mediator, I will exercise my role from the position of believing in Palestinian rights and all Arab rights, while maintaining my position on the Israeli entity. If there were some loopholes that could have been bridged, then Israeli violence and obstinacy are what brought down every voice of reason and politics, especially under the administration of the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his effort to escape from internal accountability that covers up the failure of his government.

Major General Ibrahim called on the Lebanese government to intensify its efforts to stop the Israeli attacks and prevent all-out war at a moment when the entire region is waiting and every moment is witnessing a change on the field and political levels.

A state of fear prevails in Lebanon at both the official and popular levels that the Israeli entity will commit any foolishness and launch a comprehensive war on Lebanon, especially in light of the repeated Israeli threats to it. As the representative of the Israeli entity to the United Nations said on October 8th, the day after Al-Aqsa Flood operation, "We asked several countries to inform the government of Lebanon that we will hold it responsible for any attack." The attacks continue by the Israeli entity on villages and towns in southern Lebanon, from artillery shelling to throwing internationally banned light and phosphorus bombs, through launching hostile raids and bombing with marches. Perhaps the most notable of these last Sunday was the bombing of a civilian car during an Israeli march in Ainata, which led to the death of three children , a woman and others were injured.

The bombing carried out by the Israeli forces targeted homes in southern Lebanon, led to the death of at least ten civilians and a number of wounded.

Observers confirm that the Israeli entity is violating UN Resolution 1701, in addition to violating international humanitarian law, which prohibits the targeting of civilians, medical teams, and journalists. Perhaps the most prominent of these attacks is the bombing by the Israeli entity that targeted journalists in the town of Alma al-Shaab last October, which led to the killing of a photojournalist. Others were injured, including a male and female journalist from the Al Jazeera office in Beirut. (MORE)
