Dubai: H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Border Security Council, conducted a review of Dubai Customs' advanced security measures aimed at enhancing port security and countering the smuggling of prohibited materials during his visit to Jebel Ali Port's inspection sites.

According to Emirates News Agency, during the visit, H.H. Sheikh Mansoor was briefed on the smart inspection ecosystem, which is supported by cutting-edge artificial intelligence technologies. These technologies are part of Dubai's strategic approach to port security, aimed at protecting the community and preventing illegal material smuggling.

He was joined by Dr. Abdulla Busenad, Director-General of Dubai Customs, and Omar Ali Salem Al Addidi, Secretary-General of the Dubai Border Security Council. The delegation examined the operational capabilities of advanced inspection systems, including the 'gantry' container-scanning system and the radiation-monitoring and detection network. These systems boast high penetration capabilities and rapid inspection speeds, facilitating the smooth flow of legitimate trade while maintaining safety and security.

Furthermore, H.H. Sheikh Mansoor visited the inspection platforms to assess the efficiency of the units within Dubai Customs' Customs Inspection Division. He received detailed briefings on the monitoring mechanisms, inspection methods, and field procedures used to detect suspicious activities. These measures enhance the readiness of customs inspection teams to swiftly respond to security threats related to smuggling and illicit trade.

The tour underscored the significant trade movement and shipping activity at Jebel Ali Port, a leading logistics hub. It also highlighted Dubai Customs' role in applying global best practices in container inspection, balancing security with operational efficiency.

H.H. Sheikh Mansoor praised the benchmarks achieved by the customs-inspection ecosystem and commended Dubai Customs for its use of modern technology and coordination with relevant authorities. These efforts bolster Dubai's ability to address security challenges and maintain high preparedness levels for preventing smuggling and illegal trade.

Dr. Abdulla Busenad emphasized Dubai Customs' ongoing efforts to position Dubai as a safe global trade hub by developing national talent, driving innovation, and enhancing international cooperation, aligning with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33. He acknowledged the Dubai Border Security Council's support in strengthening the emirate's security and customs framework.

He also noted that Dubai Customs inspectors serve as the first line of defence against the smuggling of narcotics, weapons, explosives, counterfeit goods, and restricted materials. This is achieved through an integrated security system that adheres to global standards and employs advanced artificial intelligence for customs analysis and monitoring.

The visit concluded with a commitment to continue investing in technical capabilities and enhancing national team skills to ensure sustainable security readiness and reinforce Dubai Customs' role as a key partner in community protection and economic development.
