Abu dhabi: His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, has issued a new decision approving 74 additional economic activities to be conducted on farms, bringing the total to 145 approved activities. This decision, No. (5) of 2025, amends certain provisions of a previous decision on farm-based economic activities.
According to Emirates News Agency, the newly approved activities include 41 related to plant production, nine supporting plant production activities, eight food support services, 12 industrial support activities, and two each in general support services and recreational activities. The decision also updates regulations regarding the built-up area for economic activities and stipulates that farms must be used according to their designated purposes.
Dr. Tariq Ahmed Al Ameri, Acting Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA), stated that the decision is part of the efforts by the Committee for Economic Activities on Farms. Formed under the direction of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office, the committee includes members from key departments such as the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development, the Department of Municipalities and Transport, and the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi. The committee aims to enhance farm utilization, expand economic activities, and facilitate recreational and tourism activities.
Al Ameri highlighted that the decision aligns with ADAFSA's strategy to broaden permitted economic activities, thereby strengthening food security and promoting agri-tourism. He emphasized ADAFSA's collaboration with government entities for regulation, licencing, and oversight to achieve sustainable development and position Abu Dhabi as a hub for agricultural and economic innovation. He also noted ongoing efforts to simplify regulatory procedures to support comprehensive development and sustain these achievements.
