Dubai: His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, recently toured the Al Mamzar Beaches development project. This project is a significant part of Dubai Municipality's strategic initiatives, with an investment of AED500 million, aimed at transforming the area into a family beach destination.
According to Emirates News Agency, Sheikh Mohammed was joined by several prominent figures, including H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, and H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai. The Al Mamzar Beaches project is a testament to Dubai Municipality's commitment to enhancing beach infrastructure and promoting sustainable urban and tourism destinations.
Sheikh Mohammed highlighted the vision to transform Dubai into the world's best city to live in by 2040, with an ambitious AED3 billion Dubai Beaches development plan. The plan aims to increase beach capacity by 170% for tourists and visitors.
The Al Mamzar Beaches project, nearing completion, spans 4 million square feet and is expected to accommodate up to 7 million visitors annually. Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the ongoing progress of projects and the commitment to a clear development agenda with significant achievements on the horizon.
During the visit, Sheikh Mohammed was also accompanied by H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Mattar Al Tayer, and Helal Saeed Almarri. Eng. Marwan bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality, provided a briefing on the project's progress, which is part of a wider AED3 billion beachfront development portfolio across key locations in Dubai.
The project aligns with several strategic plans, including the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033 and the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan. It focuses on advancing beachfront development, promoting healthy lifestyles, and enhancing community wellbeing.
Al Mamzar Beaches will feature 35 service and leisure facilities, designed to meet international standards and accessible to people of determination. The project is expected to significantly boost visitor numbers and service capacity, introducing more than 65 new investment opportunities.
Noteworthy features of the development include the world's first 24/7 women-only beach, a unique floating walkway at Al Mamzar Lagoon, and a waterfront restaurant. Additionally, integrated tracks for walking, running, and cycling will connect the lagoon, corniche, and Al Mamzar Beach Park.
Dubai Municipality is also leveraging advanced technologies to enhance the digital infrastructure of its beaches, reinforcing public safety and operational efficiency.
Eng. Marwan bin Ghalita stated that the project will redefine family beach destinations and reinforce Dubai's position as a global tourism hub. The development of Al Mamzar Beaches is set to open soon, offering high standards of safety, sustainability, and service quality.
The Al Mamzar Lagoon Beach and Corniche will provide diverse facilities, including children's play areas, water sports zones, and dedicated spaces for privacy and premium experiences. Investment opportunities across various sectors aim to boost economic activity at the beaches.
In line with climate adaptation goals, significant measures have been taken to strengthen coastal resilience and protect beachgoers, ensuring a comprehensive and sustainable public beach design.
