MoHAP Wins Government Accelerators Award for Hayat Organ Donation Programme

Abu dhabi: The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has been awarded the Government Accelerators Award for the National Programme for Donation and Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissue, known as 'Hayat'. This recognition is part of the Government Accelerators initiative managed by the Prime Minister's Office, which acknowledges the programme's measurable outcomes and significant societal impact, particularly its success in increasing the number of registered organ donors.

According to Emirates News Agency, 'Hayat' has emerged as an innovative national model for public health awareness, enhancing community engagement and health promotion through collaboration between federal and local entities. The initiative promotes creative solutions to improve government agility in delivering high-quality healthcare services, aligning with the 'We the UAE 2031' vision.

The programme's first phase launched in the Emirate of Fujairah as a pilot within a 100-day framework, aiming to increase donor registration by 50%. The Ministry surpassed this target by more than 20% through collaboration with 36 local entities. This success was attributed to innovative promotional strategies that amplified the human dimension of health awareness messaging.

Awareness workshops, including those held at the Majlis of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, along with contributions from the Fujairah Youth Council, the Federal Youth Authority, and healthcare entities, were pivotal to the programme's achievements. These efforts underscored the effectiveness of the Government Accelerators model in driving societal change.

Following its success in Fujairah, Hayat expanded to the Northern Emirates, demonstrating the model's flexibility and scalability. The project continued to achieve significant results by creating visual content documenting donor and recipient stories. Strategic government partnerships and the use of behavioral insights and artificial intelligence further enhanced public awareness and donor registration rates, showcasing the potential of combining behavioral innovation with digital transformation.

MoHAP's award underscores its commitment to aligning projects with national strategies to improve quality of life and promote sustainable health. Through innovative initiatives, the Ministry aims to position the UAE as a leader in global health indicators, supporting the nation's vision for a brighter and healthier future.

The Ministry is dedicated to advancing life-saving healthcare services, such as organ transplantation, providing hope and a second chance at life, and strengthening national efforts in this critical field. MoHAP continues to play a vital role in improving community health and well-being.

This accomplishment aligns with MoHAP's strategic goals to enhance prevention, preparedness, and response while fostering innovation in healthcare services. The project reflects the Ministry's efforts to maximize the Government Accelerators framework, focusing on impactful results through collective action, design thinking, and measurable outcomes.

Dr. Amin Hussain Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary of Health Regulations Sector, MoHAP, highlighted that winning the Government Accelerators Award is a testament to the UAE's health system's efficiency in adopting innovative methodologies that achieve tangible results swiftly. He emphasized that this achievement demonstrates the Ministry's capability to turn challenges into opportunities for developing world-class health policies and programmes.

Al Amiri noted that the Ministry is committed to promoting organ donation as a progressive humanitarian and societal choice. Through strategic partnerships and community engagement, MoHAP is working to expand the reach of the 'Hayat' programme. He reported that the number of registered donors in the UAE has exceeded 36,000, indicating increased public awareness of organ donation's noble value and its alignment with national priorities focused on human health and wellbeing.
