‘Mother of the Nation Endowment for Orphans’ Initiative Raises AED3.3bn During Ramadan; Launches AED1 bn ‘Mother of the Nation City’ Project

Abu dhabi: Since its launch under the patronage of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Mother of the Nation Endowment for Orphans initiative, spearheaded by the Endowments and Minors' Funds Authority - Awqaf Abu Dhabi at the beginning of Ramadan, has successfully raised AED3.3 billion. This initiative aims to establish a sustainable endowment funding source to support orphans across the UAE, enhancing their quality of life and fostering social cohesion.

According to Emirates News Agency, a significant contribution to the initiative is the AED1 billion Mother of the Nation City project, a collaboration between Awqaf Abu Dhabi and Eagle Hills. This project acknowledges the contributions of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, 'Mother of the Nation,' in supporting orphans. The project's returns are dedicated to the Mother of the Nation Endowment for Orphans.

His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan praised the initiative's success, highlighting the AED3.3 billion raised, reflecting the UAE's values of giving and solidarity. The initiative underscores the country's approach to humanitarian work, focusing on sustainable endowment as a tool for social development.

Awqaf Abu Dhabi expressed gratitude to the Sheikhs and major supporters for their contributions, which reflect the UAE leadership's commitment to sustainable philanthropy. The initiative, launched on the first day of Ramadan, saw strong community engagement and aligns with the Year of the Family's objectives in strengthening family stability.

Notable contributions included AED150 million from Yusuffali M.A., Chairman of Lulu Group International, and a matching amount from Emirates Red Crescent. Other significant contributions came from various organisations and individuals, including Erth Zayed Philanthropies and Mubadala Investment Company.

The initiative included supportive community efforts, reaffirming the shared responsibility of caring for orphans. Abdulhamid Mohamed Saeed, Chairman of Awqaf Abu Dhabi, emphasized the initiative's role in transforming community generosity into sustainable support for orphans.

Fahad Abdulqader Al Qassim, Director General of Awqaf Abu Dhabi, noted the initiative's success in raising awareness of endowment as a sustainable development tool benefiting orphans and society. The initiative embodies the humanitarian legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the values of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak.

Awqaf Abu Dhabi highlighted the partnership between the public and private sectors and the community, reinforcing the UAE's leadership in promoting a humanitarian model based on solidarity and sustainability for the future of orphans and future generations.
