Dubai: The Muslim Council of Elders participated in the Global Justice, Love, and Peace Summit held at Expo City Dubai from 12th to 13th April. The summit saw the participation of twelve Nobel Peace Prize laureates, several heads of state, leaders, dignitaries, senior officials, international figures, and religious leaders.
According to Emirates News Agency, Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam, Secretary-General of the Council, spoke during a session titled 'Beloved Mother Earth, Our Home: Can Love for the Planet Inspire a More Sustainable Future?'. He stated that the summit, hosted by Expo Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, represents a valuable opportunity to unite efforts to protect our planet and secure a more sustainable future for current and future generations.
Judge Abdelsalam highlighted the importance of promoting the values of justice, love, and peace, especially given the many global challenges, wars, and conflicts. He called for collective action to protect Planet Earth and to realise a more just and sustainable future for all of humanity.
He also referred to the initiatives undertaken by the Muslim Council of Elders since its establishment in Abu Dhabi in 2014, aimed at promoting peace, dialogue, tolerance, and coexistence. He stressed the vital role of religious leaders in addressing global challenges, particularly environmental peace and the urgent fight against climate change.
Judge Abdelsalam mentioned several initiatives, including the Global Summit of Religious Leaders, which resulted in the Call of Conscience: The Abu Dhabi Joint Declaration on Climate. Additionally, he highlighted the organisation of the Faith Pavilion at COP28 in Dubai and its second version at COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan.
