Abu dhabi: Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, participated in a reception hosted by Ridwaan Jadwat, Ambassador of the Commonwealth of Australia to the UAE, to commemorate 50 years of diplomatic ties between the two nations. The event took place at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Abu Dhabi.
According to Emirates News Agency, the ceremony witnessed attendance from notable figures including Maitha Al Shamsi, Minister of State, and Senator Raff Ciccone, who chairs several key committees such as the Joint Parliamentary Committee on Intelligence and Security and the Senate Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade Committee. Air Marshal Stephen Chappell, Chief of the Royal Australian Air Force, was also present, alongside various officials, heads of diplomatic missions, and members of the Australian community in the UAE.
During a televised address, Samantha Mostyn, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, lauded the robust fifty-year relationship between Australia and the UAE. She highlighted her country's dedication to enhancing cooperation across multiple sectors. The Australian Ambassador echoed these sentiments, underscoring Australia's significant partnership with the UAE. He emphasized that Australia serves as a key destination for investments in tourism, healthcare, and education, while noting the UAE's status as Australia's largest trading partner in the Middle East and North Africa region.
