Qatari Newspapers Editorials Date: 06-Aug-23

Various topics attracted the attention of Qatari newspapers on Sunday, the most prominent of which was the strengthening of the State of Qatar's position as a leading future destination in the tourism sector, in addition to Qatar's adoption of the culture of volunteer work for the development of society, through improving the capabilities of volunteers by providing them with training in various fields.

The newspapers were also concerned about the continuous Israeli crimes, calling on the Western world and the United States especially to act responsibly and return the Palestinian issue to the Security Council in order to issue mandatory resolutions that would curb the Israeli occupation authority and stop the heinous crimes and apartheid policies against the Palestinians to establish a comprehensive, lasting and just peace in the Middle East.

The newspaper also addressed the concerns following the coup in Niger, which began to take on a more dangerous dimension with increasing regional and international alignments that threaten to complicate the situation and introduce the country and the African continent into a wave of fighting and destruction that deepens the suffering of the continent.

In its editorial, Al-Raya newspaper said that Qatar has strengthened its credentials as a leading future destination in the tourism sector, adding that it played a prominent role in the field of tourism, making it an attraction for global tourism plans after it launched its national strategy for the tourism sector 2030, which aims to attract more than 7 million tourists by 2030, as the tourism industry in the country is on the path to become a major engine for development.

The newspaper considered the tourism sector one of the five priority sectors that can lead to a more diversified economy and enhance the contribution of the private sector. It noted that Qatar is experiencing a tourism renaissance in line with its National Vision 2030, pointing out that Qatar is working to expand its tourism offerings in order to broaden its attractiveness to tourists and travelers.

Al-Raya explained that within the framework of encouraging and facilitating foreign investments in this field, Qatar Tourism's Investment Promotions Unit has been established, acting as a liaison and coordination link between potential investors, local and international companies, and government agencies concerned with the tourism sector. In addition, a new e-licensing system has been launched to ensure that the necessary tourism licenses are issued and renewed as quickly as possible.

The newspaper concluded by noting that Qatar Tourism seeks to encourage members of the tourism sector to develop more services and initiatives to enhance Qatar's position as a leading tourist destination in the world. Qatar Tourism pointed that companies operating in the tourism sector can be nominated to win the Qatar Tourism Awards.

In a different matter, Al-Arab newspaper emphasized in its editorial the important role of volunteer work in the success of major events hosted by the country, with the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 highlighting the role of volunteers in the success of the tournament, as 20,000 volunteers from 150 countries, in addition to citizens and residents, flocked to volunteer during the COVID-19 pandemic.

It added that EXPO Doha 2023 is preparing to receive 2,200 male and female volunteers, stressing that the human cadre will not be one of the challenges the organizing committee faces, as previous indicators and experiences indicate the masses in the State of Qatar love volunteer work, especially since they have high skills through experiences and participation in various voluntary work.

The newspaper said that the people's passion for volunteer work comes from their belief that the effort made for society is a duty and a societal responsibility, noting that the State of Qatar adopts activating and spreading the culture of volunteer work for the development of society through improving the capabilities of volunteers.

Al-Arab concluded its editorial by saying that volunteer work in the State of Qatar is based on basic principles rooted in the norms of Qatari society, as it represents the religious, humanitarian, social and cultural pillars that are deeply rooted in Qatari society. (MORE)
