Qatari national squash teams will start Monday a two-week training camp in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, to prepare for the new season and compete in the World Junior Championships, which Australia will host in mid-July.
The U15, U17 and U19 squash teams include players Salem Al Maliki, Khalid Mohammed Al Hammadi, Talal Al Badr, Nasser Al Sharshani, Mohammed Al Khalaf, Ali Al Darwish, Hamad Al Khalaf, Youssef Al Maliki, Khalifa Al Maliki, Ahmed Al Tamimi and Syed Azlan Amjad. They are accompanied by two coaches.
The camp program covers technical and fitness exercises under the supervision of a number of coaches. Al-Adam players are also scheduled to participate in the “Palm Hills” International Junior Squash Open Championship, which will be held in Egypt from July 6 to 9.
In a statement, Khalid Al Khulaifi, a member of the Board of Directors of the Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Federation and head of the national teams committee, said the external summer camps represent a fixed date in the federation’s programming, through which they seek to take the Qatari players to the required readiness in preparation for the new season and the upcoming tournaments.
He added that the Cairo camp is also a preparation for the World Junior Squash Championship, which will be held in mid-July in Australia, noting that Qatari national team player Salem Al Maliki will compete in this tournament, accompanied by the federation coach Dan Jenson.
