RTA Achieves 65% Completion of Bridge Project for Dubai Harbour Access

Dubai: Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the completion of 65 percent of its bridge development project, which aims to enhance access to Dubai Harbour. The 1,500-metre bridge, designed with two lanes in each direction, will provide direct connectivity from Sheikh Zayed Road to Dubai Harbour, a major waterfront destination in the region known for hosting the largest yacht marinas in the Middle East.

According to Emirates News Agency, the project contractor has successfully completed 90 percent of the tasks related to upgrading and adjusting utility services that intersect with the construction site. In addition, approved traffic diversions have been implemented to maintain smooth traffic flow and facilitate ongoing construction activities. The project is on track for completion by the third quarter of this year.

Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the RTA, highlighted the scope of the project, which includes the creation of a bridge extending from Interchange 5 on Sheikh Zayed Road. This bridge runs near the American University in Dubai, crosses the intersection of Al Naseem Street and Al Falak Street, and spans over King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street, finally connecting to Dubai Harbour Street.

The bridge, with its 1,500-metre span and two lanes in each direction, is designed to accommodate approximately 6,000 vehicles per hour. The project also focuses on at-grade improvements at four key intersections along the route: Interchange 5 on Sheikh Zayed Road, the intersection of Al Falak Street and Al Naseem Street, the intersection of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street and Al Naseem Street, and Dubai Harbour Street. Once completed, the project is expected to significantly enhance traffic flow, reducing travel time from 12 minutes to just 3 minutes.
