SCLD Engages in Groundbreaking Conference on Learning Difficulties in Amman

Amman: The Sharjah Center for Learning Difficulties (SCLD) actively participated in the 2nd International Scientific Conference on Learning Difficulties, held from May 6th to 8th, 2025, in Amman, Jordan. The centre's delegation embarked on this mission to foster international collaboration, exchange cutting-edge expertise, and delve into the latest advancements in diagnosing and supporting individuals with learning difficulties.

According to Emirates News Agency, the delegation, led by Dr. Hanadi Al Suwaidi, Director of SCLD, signed a pivotal cooperation agreement with Princess Tharwat University College. This agreement is set to enhance collaboration in several areas, including academic and training exchanges, curriculum development, and practical training opportunities for college students at the Centre. It also includes joint research initiatives aimed at enriching the field and expanding shared knowledge.

A significant aspect of the agreement is the collaborative development of a unified and comprehensive diagnostic and assessment battery, customized to meet local and regional needs. This tool will provide reliable and standardized methods to improve diagnosis accuracy and identify individual support needs, facilitating the creation of effective and targeted intervention and rehabilitation plans.

During the conference, Dr. Hanadi highlighted that the event, under the theme "Current challenges and future solutions," with participation from leading experts and stakeholders, reflects a strong commitment to establishing a robust, inclusive education system for individuals with learning difficulties. She emphasized the importance of providing genuine support in an educational environment that respects individual differences and nurtures capabilities.

Dr. Hanadi described the conference as an opportunity for sharing experiences, fostering collaborative thinking, and formulating realistic and ambitious recommendations backed by scientific and practical solutions. She reiterated that every child has the right to education and stressed the need for broad societal awareness and cooperation across sectors to address learning difficulties effectively.

The centre's delegation presented a paper titled "Sharjah Centre for Learning Difficulties: A Model Institution," showcasing the centre's services, programmes, and achievements. These include promoting scientific awareness, comprehensive individual assessments, evaluating educational institutions, and training specialized professionals.

The visit also encompassed field tours to institutions such as Al-Bunayat Centre for Special Education and the National Centre for Learning Difficulties. These visits aimed to deepen technical and professional exchanges, explore future collaborations, and discuss shared projects to advance the field. Delegates exchanged insights on best practices in providing support services and specialized rehabilitation programs for children with learning difficulties.
