SEC Reviews Urban Planning and Reports 34% Surge in New Business Licences

Sharjah: H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council (SEC), presided over the Council's meeting on Tuesday morning at the Ruler's Office. During this session, the SEC focused on development plans aimed at improving the quality of life across the emirate.

According to Emirates News Agency, the Council emphasized the importance of coordination among all entities to implement Sharjah's development plans effectively. A decision was made to promote Yousef Obaid Ahmed Al Tunaiji to Director of the Sharjah Social Security Fund (SSSF), aligning with the government's special jobs system.

The SEC also examined a rainwater accumulation simulation system, designed to predict heavy rainfall impacts and map water flow paths. This system employs advanced technologies such as AI, geographic data, and digital twin technologies, aiding in urban planning and infrastructure management.

The system's introduction is a strategic move towards digital transformation, aiming for a smarter, sustainable, and future-ready Sharjah. It supports climate change preparedness, sustainable infrastructure management, and data-driven decision-making.

The Council called for enhanced activation of this system through coordinated efforts and integrated event-response frameworks. Moreover, the SEC reviewed Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority's response to recommendations from the Sharjah Consultative Council, focusing on improving government performance in line with the emirate's objectives.

Additionally, the Sharjah Economic Development Department's 2025 achievements report was reviewed, highlighting economic growth with a 34% increase in issued licences. The report noted improvements in customer experience, process reengineering, and automated services, achieving a 96.8% customer satisfaction rate.

The report also addressed inspection activities, economic regulation, institutional development, international participation, and future projects, reflecting the Department's commitment to enhancing Sharjah's economic landscape.
