Sharjah: A delegation from the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has actively participated in the 21st Mango and Tropical Fruits Festival 2024 held in the Jazan Region of Sabya Governorate, Saudi Arabia. Organised by the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture's Jazan branch, the event attracted 60 farmers to showcase their produce. The Sharjah Chamber was represented by the Organising Committee of the KhorFakkan-based annual Mango Festival.
According to Emirates News Agency, the delegation, led by Khalil Mohammed Al Mansouri, Director of Expo Centre Khorfakkan, included several members from the Organising Committee of the Khorfakkan Mango Festival. This participation highlights SCCI's commitment to fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange in the agricultural sector, focusing on food security and sustainable development.
Khalil Al Mansouri emphasized that the Sharjah Chamber's involvement aligns with its strategic efforts to support agricultural events across the Gulf region. It also aims to position the Khorfakkan Mango Festival as a distinguished agritourism event. Al Mansouri highlighted the importance of such engagements in fostering knowledge exchange and establishing networks that benefit agricultural stakeholders and farmers, promoting agribusiness interests in Sharjah and the UAE.
As part of its participation, the Sharjah Chamber delegation interacted with farmers' exhibits to learn from Saudi Arabia's expertise in hosting specialised agricultural events and exhibitions. They explored the latest practices and techniques in mango and tropical fruit cultivation, production, and marketing. Discussions were also held on establishing strategic partnerships to enhance agricultural trade and collaboration between UAE and Saudi producers.
The delegation attended various festival activities, including exhibitions featuring diverse mango varieties and other tropical fruits such as papaya, banana, fig, guava, and custard apple. The festival also included workshops and scientific seminars focusing on modern agricultural methods, strategies to boost yield and crop quality, and solutions to challenges faced by farmers and agricultural producers.
