The initiative underscores SCCI's dedication to fostering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and encouraging Emirati designers to innovate and expand their businesses. By boosting innovation across design, production, and marketing, the platform aims to enhance the competitiveness of national brands in regional and global markets. Since its inception, the Emirati Goldsmiths platform has attracted nearly 400 Emirati designers, highlighting significant local engagement and creative potential.
Participants of the platform annually present stunning gold and diamond jewellery collections, renowned for their originality and vibrant colors, while reflecting the rich heritage of traditional craftsmanship. The Sharjah Chamber is working to strengthen the global presence of these designers, offering them sustainable opportunities in international markets through participation in prestigious trade fairs like the International Handicrafts Trade Fair in Florence, Italy, and the Japan Jewellery Fair.
These international engagements provide platforms for Emirati designers to connect with industry leaders and showcase their creations to global audiences. This exposure has not only highlighted the unique artistic identity of Emirati jewellery but has also enriched the designers' expertise and experiences, blending authentic Emirati heritage with contemporary artistry.
Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI, emphasized the importance of empowering young national talent within promising economic sectors. By supporting the Emirati Goldsmiths platform, SCCI aims to foster entrepreneurship and advance creative industries, particularly in jewellery design and manufacturing. Al Owais highlighted that the platform serves as a talent incubator and a catalyst for SME development, aligning with Sharjah's vision of building a knowledge-driven and innovation-led economy.
Mona Sultan Al Suwaidi, Director of the Executive Office of SCCI's Chairman and head of the Emirati Goldsmiths, noted the platform's role in transforming the ambitions of Emirati designers into sustainable businesses. She explained that the platform provides integrated support through training programs, expert consultancy, and exposure to international trade fairs, equipping designers to commercialize their crafts.
The upcoming Watch and Jewellery Middle East Show will feature the Emirati Goldsmiths platform's captivating collections, crafted by passionate Emirati entrepreneurs. Over the years, the show has highlighted the success stories of emerging Emirati designers, advancing their craftsmanship and marketing skills through tailored workshops and professional training. These efforts have resulted in jewellery that is both innovative and culturally resonant, attracting significant attention from visitors.
Among the standout designs are pieces like the 'Zayed Lantern,' the 'Palm Necklace,' and the 'Emirati Dama'a,' all of which incorporate traditional 'Talli' motifs. These creations, meticulously crafted in gold and adorned with precious stones, reflect the UAE's rich cultural heritage and natural beauty.
