Sharjah Ruler Unveils Vision for Khorfakkan to Transform into a Forested City

Sharjah: His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has announced a visionary plan to transform Khorfakkan into a city encircled by forests. This initiative aims to create an environment characterized by high oxygen levels, reduced carbon dioxide, and increased positive electrons, promising to provide residents with a sense of comfort and tranquillity.

According to Emirates News Agency, the Ruler of Sharjah shared insights on horticulture, offering guidance to flower enthusiasts on optimal planting practices. He emphasized the importance of choosing the right soil, regulating light exposure, and the timing of pruning before March. During a phone call on the Direct Line programme, hosted by Mohammed Hassan Khalaf, Director-General of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, Sheikh Dr. Sultan explained the sensitivity of rose trees to soil composition and the benefits of using pure clay from mountain slopes for planting.

The Ruler elaborated on the characteristics of the Qasd tree, a resilient species that thrives in arid conditions. He recounted personal memories of the tree's fruits and detailed efforts to cultivate it successfully using growth hormones, resulting in thriving specimens at the Al Badi Palace nursery. This nursery now supplies millions of selected trees to municipalities, addressing the insufficiency of municipal nurseries.

In concluding remarks, Sheikh Dr. Sultan highlighted ongoing efforts to plant trees in the mountains surrounding Khorfakkan. Specialized companies are creating pits to divert water from valleys for irrigation, preventing it from flowing into the sea. This endeavor aims to establish a forested city, enhancing the region's ecological balance and providing a serene environment for its inhabitants. Sheikh Dr. Sultan previously encouraged the people of Khorfakkan to embrace this transformative project, likening their resilience to the purity of their sea.
