Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre Hosts Delegation from Abu Dhabi Accueil for French Speakers

Abu Dhabi: Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre, under its "Jusoor" programme, hosted a delegation from Abu Dhabi Accueil, an association supporting newly arrived French-speaking residents in Abu Dhabi. The meeting, held at the Peace Dome, aimed to promote intercultural dialogue and enhance the UAE's global image. Dr Yousif Al Obaidli, Director-General of the Centre, highlighted the mosque's role as a cultural meeting place envisioned by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

According to Emirates News Agency, the Centre's "Jusoor" programme invites individuals and institutions from various cultures to engage in activities and programmes at the mosque. Since its opening, the mosque has welcomed approximately 1,820,000 French visitors, including notable figures such as France's First Lady Brigitte Macron and former French leaders. In 2024 alone, the mosque hosted 124,691 visitors, reflecting its significance as a landmark for the French community in the UAE.

During the meeting, Al Obaidli emphasised the mosque's construction, which incorporated elements and materials from around the world, facilitating connections for visitors from diverse cultural backgrounds. Feedback from "Google Reviews" and "TripAdvisor," along with visitor experiences from cultural tours, indicates that the mosque has fostered an accurate understanding of Islamic culture and a positive image of the UAE.

The delegation toured the "Light and Peace Museum," learning about Islamic civilisation's rich legacy of art and science, and experiencing "Diya - A Universe of Light," an immersive multimedia presentation. They explored the mosque's halls and arcades, appreciating its civilisational message of coexistence and tolerance, and admired its unique collections and Islamic artistry.

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre also actively participates in international events, including France's International Tourism Exhibition, "Top Resa," further reinforcing its commitment to fostering global cultural exchanges.
