Sheraa and Startup Middle East Forge Partnership to Boost UAE-India Startup Collaboration

Sharjah: The Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center (Sheraa) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Startup Middle East, marking a significant step towards enhancing collaboration between the startup ecosystems of the UAE and India. This strategic agreement aims to expand market access, connect entrepreneurs with global platforms, and foster collaborative innovation between the two nations.

According to Emirates News Agency, the MoU was signed at Sheraa's headquarters by Sara Abdulaziz Al Nuaimi, CEO of Sheraa, and Siby Sudhakaran, CEO of Startup Middle East. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Anoop Ambika, CEO of Kerala Startup Mission, along with other officials and representatives from Indian startup companies. The agreement lays out a strategic roadmap to integrate Indian entrepreneurs into Sharjah's innovation ecosystem, thereby unlocking new avenues for growth and expansion.

Central to this partnership is the establishment of the Sharjah Centre of India Startup Hub (ISH), a dedicated platform aimed at connecting Indian entrepreneurs with Sharjah's thriving innovation ecosystem. This initiative is part of Sheraa's broader strategy to expand collaborations with Indian government entities and programs, strengthening flagship initiatives like Sheraa Deal Dock, Sharjah Startup Studio (S3), and the Access Sharjah Challenge. These efforts are designed to position Sheraa as a key driver of entrepreneurship, enabling startups to access new markets and establish a global presence.

The collaboration also extends to major Indian startup ecosystem events, including Huddle Global, Startup Mahakumbh, Scaleup in the Emirates Business Summit, and India Startups Confluence 2025. Sara Al Nuaimi emphasized the importance of collaboration in Sheraa's mission to build a globally connected startup ecosystem, noting that the agreement brings Indian founders closer to Sharjah's entrepreneurial community and opens new opportunities for expansion into dynamic markets.

Siby Sudhakaran highlighted the India Startup Hub as a landmark initiative inspired by Expo 2020 Dubai, designed to showcase the Indian startup ecosystem's dynamism while opening doors to global opportunities. He expressed appreciation for Sheraa's visionary leadership in realizing this vision, stating that the hub will serve as a catalyst for connecting Indian innovators with Sharjah's entrepreneurial landscape.

Anoop Ambika, CEO of Kerala Startup Mission, noted the significant presence of over 1 million Malayalees in the UAE and the potential to harness their sectoral expertise through the India Startup Hub Sharjah Centre. This strategic partnership reinforces Sharjah's position as a global hub for entrepreneurship and strengthens the bridge between the UAE and India's startup ecosystems, empowering founders and scaling impactful ventures for a more connected entrepreneurial future.
