Moscow: Special screenings of documentaries directed by filmmakers from BRICS+ countries are to be held at the All-Russian State Library for Foreign Literature named after M. I. Rudomino as part of the third annual All-Russian Film Night event, featuring a diverse array of cultural narratives.
According to Emirates News Agency, the event is scheduled to take place on 23rd August and will showcase a selection of films provided by the TV BRICS International Media Network, a key partner of the library.
The programme will kick off with "Partitura. Young Music of Russia" (Russia, 2025, directed by Ivan Zakharenko), a TV BRICS production that explores the 3rd All-Russian Competition for Young Composers. This documentary highlights the role of music in fostering international cultural ties, aiming to elevate the prestige of the composer profession and spotlight Russia's contributions to nurturing new musical talent.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to experience "Discovering Ofala: Umudioka 2023" (Nigeria, 2023, directed by Tochukwu Nwaiwu), which delves into the rich traditions of the Nigerian Igbo community. The film provides an in-depth look at the Igwe chief ceremony, a prestigious honor recognizing individuals for their public achievements.
Another highlight of the screenings is "Festival del Caribe. Fiesta del Fuego" (Cuba, 2024, directed by Enrique Fumero), which captures the vibrant culture and traditions of the Caribbean as celebrated in Santiago de Cuba's Festival of Fire. This documentary offers an immersive look at the large-scale cultural event.
The lineup also features "Therukoothu" (India, 2025, directed by Vijay Bhaskaran), a film crafted by students that takes viewers into the world of South Indian folk street theatre. Known for its colorful costumes and dynamic performances, the film offers a captivating journey into the essence of traditional theatre.
Screenings are scheduled from 15:00 to 17:30 (GMT+3). The BRICS+ Information and Cultural Media Centre, established by the All-Russian State Library for Foreign Literature and TV BRICS International Media Network in October 2024, focuses on enhancing humanitarian cooperation and promoting culture, science, and education across nations.
