SRTA Plans for 5,600 Eid Al Adha Trips to Enhance Holiday Travel

Sharjah: The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has crafted a strategic plan to facilitate 5,600 trips during the upcoming Eid Al Adha holiday. This initiative is designed to ensure that travelers can enjoy comfortable and safe transportation throughout the festive period. With an expected increase in travel demand, SRTA is bolstering its services to facilitate smooth movement across different areas in Sharjah and beyond.

According to Emirates News Agency, Engineer Yousef Khamis Al Othmani, the head of SRTA, emphasized the significance of preparedness during holidays. He indicated that during the Eid holiday in 2025, scheduled from June 5 to 8, there will be a notable rise in public transport users. To address this, SRTA plans to deploy 180 buses on various routes, with the aim of executing approximately 5,600 trips over the four-day period. During peak times, buses will arrive every 5 minutes, significantly reducing the usual 45-minute wait and enhancing convenience for travelers.

The authority remains committed to facilitating easy travel for individuals visiting family or exploring popular destinations within and outside the emirate. They are increasing staffing at busy bus stations, particularly at the Jubail Bus Station, which will operate from early morning until late at night to accommodate the anticipated surge in passengers during the holiday.

SRTA has improved bus services in Sharjah City for the Eid holiday, simplifying travel for everyone. They are operating a total of 1,144 bus trips daily across 12 routes, utilizing 104 buses that connect to 543 stops around the city.

Additionally, a special boat service will operate between Sharjah and Dubai during the Eid Al Adha holiday. Abdul Aziz Al Jarwan, responsible for transport at the local authority, announced that four daily trips will be conducted. These boats will depart from the Aquarium Station in Sharjah and arrive at Al Ghubaiba Station in Dubai, in collaboration with Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority.

Al Jarwan also stated that the Authority is collaborating with the Omani transport company, Mwasalat, to operate international route 203. This route links Sharjah with Muscat, the capital of Oman, offering two daily flights. This service aims to boost tourism between the two countries, especially during the Eid holidays. Passengers can board at Jubail station and travel to Al Athaiba station, with stops along the route. Tickets are available online through Mwasalat Oman's website or at their service points.
