Abu dhabi: The Technology Innovation Institute (TII), the applied research arm of Abu Dhabi's Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC), has joined forces with NVIDIA, a global leader in accelerated computing and AI, to launch the Middle East's first Joint Lab dedicated to artificial intelligence and robotics. This collaboration establishes a pioneering hub in the region for developing advanced AI models, robotics platforms, and humanoid technologies, aiming to drive innovation across various industries.
According to Emirates News Agency, the announcement of the TII-NVAITC (NVIDIA AI Technology Centre) Joint Lab for AI and Robotics was made during a signing ceremony at TII's headquarters in Abu Dhabi. Senior leaders from both organizations attended the event to mark this significant milestone.
The agreement was signed by Dr. Najwa Aaraj, CEO of TII, and Marc Domenech, Regional Director, Enterprise - META Region at NVIDIA, with key figures such as Shahab Abu Shahab, Director General at ATRC, and Abdulaziz Al Dosari, Executive Director of Support Services at ATRC, witnessing the occasion. The collaboration aligns with Abu Dhabi's strategy to advance technological sovereignty and emphasizes the UAE's role as a leader in AI and robotics on the global stage.
Dr. Najwa Aaraj highlighted the collaboration's potential in building AI-enhanced robotic systems capable of operating in complex environments. The TII-NVAITC Joint Lab aims to integrate NVIDIA's technology with TII's research in AI, robotics, and autonomous systems, marking the first NVAITC lab in the region.
The partnership will focus on developing intelligent systems with real-world applications, including advanced robotics and humanoid technologies. Research efforts will cover robotic learning and control, and the integration of large language models, such as TII's Falcon family of AI models.
Carlo Ruiz, Vice President - Enterprise Solutions and Operations EMEA at NVIDIA, emphasized the lab's role in expanding the global NVAITC network into robotics, fostering breakthroughs in intelligent systems. This initiative is part of TII's broader strategy to enhance applied AI and robotics with a commitment to open innovation and global knowledge exchange.
