Trump Announces Russia’s Diesel Supply to Ease Fuel Prices

Washington:US President Donald Trump revealed on Friday that Russia has agreed to supply millions of tonnes of diesel to the United States and global markets. This decision follows a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin and aims to alleviate rising energy prices.

According to Emirates News Agency, Trump mentioned on his Truth Social platform that Russia would begin by supplying over 300,000 tonnes of diesel immediately. This will be followed by an additional 500,000 tonnes in November and one million tonnes shortly after.

Furthermore, Trump indicated that Moscow could potentially deliver up to three million tonnes more, contingent on the status of its refineries. In conjunction with this agreement, the US Treasury Department has issued a temporary licence authorizing transactions involving Russian diesel. This licence, which includes imports into the United States, will be valid until April 7, 2027, easing some of the restrictions previously imposed on Russia's energy sector due to the war in Ukraine.
