Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stressed the importance of conducting a comprehensive investigation on the Ukrainian Kakhovka dam explosion, leaving no room for doubt he said.
During a phone call with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, Erdogan stated that a commission could be established with participation from Russian and Ukrainian experts, the UN, and the international community, including Turkiye.
He underlined the importance attached by the entire world to the continuation of the Cereal Convention, adding that the Convention, which had been signed in joint efforts, played a vital role in preventing a global food crisis.
The Turkish President emphasized Turkiye's effort to establish peace between Russia and Ukraine, and their willingness to end the conflict between them.
Kyiv and Moscow exchanged charges over responsibility for the destruction of the dam in Russian-controlled parts of the Kherson region of southern Ukraine. The collapse of the dam caused flooding, and put Europe's largest nuclear power plant in danger, as well as threatened the supply of drinking water.
